The first party to be named as an accused in the corruption case chargesheet will be formed."

“The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will reportedly name the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as an accused in a new chargesheet related to money laundering in the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam.”

This is the first time that a national party will be named as an accused in a charge sheet filed by an agency in a corruption case.

“Hopefully, the central investigation agency can include Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s name for the first time in the charge sheet as an accused in the charge sheet. The ED will identify Kejriwal as the ‘kingpin’ in the liquor policy case and as the main conspirator.”

“The ED has claimed to have established a money trail connected to Kejriwal. Earlier, the ED had claimed before a Delhi court that the party had used Rs 45 crore from the bribe money received by you during the 2022 Goa Assembly elections for its campaign.”

The agency can file a charge sheet on Friday after the Supreme Court’s interim bail hearing for Kejriwal. Sources indicate that if the hearing continues all day, the chargesheet will be filed tomorrow.

Filing a charge sheet against the accused within two months of arrest is mandatory. Kejriwal will complete two months in judicial custody on May 21st. He was arrested in the liquor policy case on March 21st and is currently in Tihar Jail.

If filed, this would be the seventh charge sheet by the ED in the liquor policy case. So far, the agency has arrested 18 people, including Delhi’s former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. Singh was granted bail last month.

On Thursday, the ED challenged Kejriwal’s interim bail in the Supreme Court, arguing that the right to campaign in elections is neither fundamental nor constitutional.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party has filed a complaint in the Supreme Court registry, calling the ED’s affidavits a blatant disregard for legal procedures.

The ruling party in Delhi has stated that the affidavit was submitted without the approval of the High Court and was released a day before the final verdict on Kejriwal’s interim bail.
