India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Tata Motors, has provided state-of-the-art Ultra EV air-conditioned electric buses to Jammu Smart City Limited through its subsidiary Tata Motors Limited Smart City Mobility Solutions (TML SCS).

The aim of the initiative under the leadership of the Jammu and Kashmir government’s Housing and Urban Development Department is to establish a sustainable public transportation system in Jammu with an environmentally-friendly perspective.

Tata Motors’ electric buses, utilizing advanced technology, offer emission-free and noiseless travel in India. Designed with a focus on safety, comfort, and convenience, these buses contribute to eco-friendly urban commuting solutions in Jammu. The delivery of 100 electric buses in Srinagar and 100 in Jammu, as part of the Jammu and Srinagar Smart City projects, constitutes a significant order for maintenance and operation, with an agreement for a 12-year period.

The inauguration of the Bede unit was carried out in the presence of the Honorable Home Minister and Cooperative Minister of the Government of India, Amit Shah, along with the esteemed Heavy Industries Minister, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, and the Honorable Lieutenant Governor. In this program, the participation of respected Members of Parliament, Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma, Ghulam Ali Khatana, Ajay Bhalla (IAS), Home Secretary of the Indian government, Atal Dulloo (IAS), Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, and other esteemed personalities from the region was observed. Mandeep Kaur (IAS), Secretary, H&UD Department, Jammu and Kashmir, along with other administrative officials, representatives from the Jammu Municipal Corporation, Jammu Smart City Limited, and delegates from Tata Motors were present in the meeting.

Jammu Smart City Limited CEO Rahul Yadav (IAS) expressed commitment to improving transportation in Jammu with the introduction of electric buses. The goal is to enhance efficiency on a large scale and provide increased safety. These advanced buses not only meet stringent quality standards but also contribute to the city’s air quality improvement goals, aiming to enhance accessibility and convenience for commuters. They are part of a collective initiative to make a positive impact on the overall air quality in the city. Showcasing the green flag to Tata Motors’ electric bus aligns with Jammu Smart City’s commitment to reducing carbon footprint and improving the quality of life for citizens.

Speaking on this significant occasion, Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, Chairman of TML Smart City Mobility Solutions (JNDK) Private Limited, stated, “Tata Motors leads in the electric mobility sector, particularly spearheading innovative advancements in public transportation designed to meet India’s needs.” “The unique requirements.
