Special guests on Republic Day: 800 tribal individuals from various states.
Approximately 800 guests from various tribal communities have arrived in the national capital to witness the Republic Day celebration. This year, two sets of guests from indigenous communities have been invited: 663 special guests, including tribal students and teachers, and 130 regular invitees who attend every year.
Representatives from various communities of states and union territories, one man and one woman each, are invited annually by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Apart from witnessing the Republic Day parade in the capital, these guests also meet the President and Prime Minister every year.
On Thursday, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) hosted a special tour for 100 guests, providing them with a firsthand experience of the metro system. Representatives traveled from I.N.A. to Patel Chowk metro station on the Yellow Line and later toured the Metro Museum at Patel Chowk Station. In their statement, the DMRC expressed a sense of privilege in offering these special guests a rich metro experience, emphasizing the promotion of inclusivity and cultural heritage.
During this period, 589 students from the Scheduled Tribes (ST) benefit from the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme, along with 74 teachers who have joined as special guests.
Special guests were taken to participate in a program at the PMO House on Wednesday. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs organized a trip to Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar on Thursday. According to ministry sources, Friday evening will witness a reception at the residence of Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda for the guests involved in tribal affairs.
