“She deserves respect”: UP class 10th topper Prachi Nigam trolled over ‘facial hair’, receives support.
“When will women stop being judged based on their looks? Is intelligence only valuable when it comes in a beautiful package? These questions resurfaced after the announcement of class 10th and 12th results by the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board on April 20th. In the headlines was Sitapur’s student Prachi Nigam, who secured the top spot in the state in the 10th grade results with an impressive score of 98.50%, equivalent to 591 out of 600.”
Instead of celebrating their achievements, their identity became the center of attention due to their viral photos. People started mocking their characteristics, highlighting another concerning aspect of our society.
“Although when trolls advance, critics were not behind, ready to respond in the most necessary and powerful ways. Trolls never think twice about what they are trolling and who they are trolling. It’s unfortunate. I wish he had never read those comments, it could damage his self-confidence forever. Hormonal imbalance can happen to anyone, we should avoid making fun of it,” responded an ‘X’ user, echoing a doctor’s clarification, saying she’s dealing with PCOS and deserves understanding, not mockery.
Another voice echoed, “It’s easy for people to make fun of this young girl, Prachi Nigam, for her facial hair, which could be due to hormonal imbalance. Have they ever thought about how it could affect this little girl?”
The third voice then said, “Prachi Nigam is the topper of @Upboardexam24. Those who were disrespecting her/mocking her might be ashamed by her board exam results. Adolescence is a challenging time. Go conquer the world, Prachi, while these nameless zeros live their empty lives.”
It’s heartening to see people standing up against internet trolling, recognizing it as more than just another online nuisance but a significant issue.
