In Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, terrorists attacked a convoy of Indian Air Force vehicles near Shahsitar. Local military units have initiated a cordon and search operation in the area. The convoy has been secured, and further investigation is underway.
The place where militants carried out the shooting is quite far from the district headquarters. Official sources have reported that the National Rifles of the army evacuated the injured from the area. The army has launched a major search operation in the area to locate the terrorists.
After the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was revoked by the central government in 2019, there has been an increase in terrorist violence in the Poonch-Rajouri belt, which shares a 220 km control line with Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK).
