The World’s Richest People in 2023: 2023 marks another benchmark year for global wealth. According to the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), global wealth is expected to have rebounded by roughly five per cent to reach a whopping $267 trillion in 2023 despite the economic headwinds.
According to a report by Swiss banking behemoth UBS, more than 1,000 billionaires are expected to pass USD 5.2 trillion to their heirs over the next 20 to 30 years, marking a shift in generational wealth.
According to the UBS report, global wealth will rise by 38 per cent over the next five years, reaching a whopping USD 629 trillion by 2027. “Growth by middle-income countries will be the primary driver of global trends. We estimate wealth per adult to reach USD 110,270 in 2027 and the number of millionaires to reach 86 million while the number of ultra-high-net-worth individuals is likely to rise to 372,000,” the UBS report said.

The BCG report attributed the increase in global wealth to strong growth in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, as well as an improved macroeconomic outlook. “Growth in financial wealth in emerging markets is expected to outperform developed markets until 2027,” Markus Massi of BCG was quoted as saying on the official website of the organisation.
