B.S. Yediyurappa, who is 81 years old, has been accused of sexual harassment by a 17-year-old girl under the POCSO Act.
In Bengaluru, a complaint has been filed against 81-year-old senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa under a section of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act following allegations of sexual harassment by a 17-year-old.
This case was registered late Thursday night at a police station in Bengaluru.
According to the FIR, Yediyurappa was charged under Section 8 of the POCSO Act and Section 354 A of the Indian Penal Code. The evaluation of one aspect of the case was done by Times Now.
Police officers said that the 17-year-old complainant went to the Sadashivnagar police station with her mother, where the complaint was filed.
According to sources, the alleged incident of sexual harassment occurred on February 2, 2024, when the mother and the complainant went to seek help from Yediyurappa regarding another case of sexual harassment.
Yediyurappa has not reacted to the complaint yet.
Under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012, the minimum sentence is 3 years, although it depends on the specific section under which the offense falls. For example, under Section 4, the minimum sentence determined by the court for sexual assault on a child below 16 years of age is 20 years of imprisonment and a fine
