More than 30,000 users in India have reported issues with WhatsApp.

WhatsApp and Instagram, both owned by Meta, were restored Wednesday night after being down for several hours for users worldwide.

During the outage, users attempting to log in on the browser version or mobile app platform encountered an error message. Users were also unable to send messages and couldn’t use services like WhatsApp audio and video calls.

Reuters news agency reported referencing DownDetector that there have been over 17,000 incidents of users reporting issues with messaging platforms, which tracks outages by aggregating status reports from various sources, including errors submitted by users on their platforms.

According to Reuters, over 30,000 users in India, over 67,000 users in the United Kingdom, and over 95,000 users in Brazil reported issues with the platform.

According to DownDetector, around 3,200 people in the United States were facing issues with Instagram.

WhatsApp posted on its official account after the outage, saying, “We know some people are facing issues right now, and we’re working to bring things back to 100% for everyone as soon as possible.”

In March at the beginning of this year, Facebook, Instagram, and Threads users reported that they were unable to access the social media apps.
