Actor Vijay has termed the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act.) as ‘unacceptable’ and urged not to enforce it in Tamil Nadu.
Tamil actor and Tamilaga Vettori Kadgam (TVK) chief Thalapathy Vijay criticized the Modi-led central government on Monday after the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.
After four years of controversy, the central government implemented the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), which fast-tracks citizenship for non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who entered India before December 31, 2014, without proper documentation.
In a statement on the microblogging site ‘X’, Vijay expressed that implementing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act is “unacceptable.”
A rough translation of his statement in Tamil suggests, “In an environment where all citizens of the country live with social harmony, implementing any law like the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 (CAA) is not acceptable.”
He also requested the Tamil Nadu government to ensure that the law is not implemented in Tamil Nadu.
The statement said, “Leaders should ensure that this law is not implemented in Tamil Nadu.”

Apart from Vijay, other opposition leaders have also criticized the central government for notifying the rules of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, alleging that the BJP is attempting to divide society and polarize the environment before the general elections.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin termed it as the BJP’s “divisive agenda” and stated that the people would teach them a strong lesson.
CAA will be implemented before the Lok Sabha elections: Amit Shah.
