“The police said that Gurucharan Singh, famous for portraying Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular TV show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah‘, who had been missing since April 22, returned home on Friday.”
“The Delhi police had registered a case of abduction, and an investigation was underway to search for the actor.”
According to the police, Singh informed officials during interrogation that he has left his worldly life behind and is on a spiritual journey.
The police said that in the past few days, he stayed in gurudwaras in several cities like Amritsar and Ludhiana, but later he realized that he should return home.
On April 22nd, the actor was supposed to catch a flight from Delhi to Mumbai; however, he did not board the flight and went missing. His phone number remained active until April 24th, through which several transactions were made, as revealed by police investigation. On the day he went missing, CCTV footage showed the actor walking with a bag on his back.
Their father, Harjeet Singh, had lodged a missing complaint on April 26th, and a preliminary inquiry was initiated under Section 365 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
During the investigation, a police officer stated that Singh’s financial condition was not good because he had several loans and dues pending.
The police also found out that Singh was a follower of a certain religious sect that emphasizes meditation, and he was interested in going to the Himalayas for meditation as well.
