“2025 BMW M4 CS: Here it is.”
“543 horsepower, 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds, and a price of $124,675.”
It’s been quite a while. But finally, the wait is over. The new BMW M4 CSL is here, bringing more power, less weight, and faster pace to compete and slot nicely between the M and CSL variants.
If you’re familiar with the BMW M3 CS, none of this will come as a surprise. Its twin-turbocharged inline-six delivers an impressive 543 horsepower. The peak torque is 479 pound-feet, and it reaches the ground through BMW’s M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. It has an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission as the only option, and under full throttle, it reaches 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds. Top speed is limited to 188 miles per hour—all figures matching those of the M3 CS on all fronts.
The BMW M4 has shed 45 pounds compared to its competition thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic for various body panels like the hood, front splitter, and rear diffuser. It’s not just the exterior – the BMW M4 also utilizes lightweight materials for interior components like the center console, paddle shifters, and various interior trim pieces. The optional M Carbon seats are lighter, and BMW has also achieved an eight-pound reduction through the exhaust system.
With specific chassis and suspension tuning for the CS, the result is a quick coupe that carves corners effortlessly. No, it’s not as fast around the Nürburgring as the CSL, but it’s incredibly close. BMW officially clocked a time of 7 minutes 21.99 seconds – which is approximately 1.5 seconds slower than the hardcore CSL. To help buyers maximize benefits on the racecourse, BMW offers track or “ultra-track” tires as an option without any extra cost. They come fitted with a set of forged M alloy wheels in either black or gold, with sizes of 19 inches in the front and 20 inches in the rear.
In other CS touches, a specific black interior with red trim, leather-wrapped and Alcantara-included, is featured. At launch, exterior colors were limited to Riviera Blue or Frozen Isle of Man Green, contrasting with open carbon fiber headlights and yellow running lights. You’ll find CS branding on the seats, center console, and door sills, but there’s no mention of CS badge on the trunk and grille. The large kidney grille – now frameless to reduce weight – gets red trim to help it stand out compared to the standard M4.
Although the weight has decreased, the price hasn’t decreased significantly. Starting at $124,675 with a destination fee of $1,175, the M4 CS commands a $35,200 premium over the M4 Competition xDrive. Production begins in July, with deliveries expected by the end of this year.
