There seems to be no likelihood of contesting elections on three seats in the BJP’s stronghold valley; Shah hinted at it during the Jammu rally.
“Jammu/Dehradun: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has hinted at not fielding candidates in three Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir and assured that assembly elections will be held on time.”
During an election campaign rally in the Palloura area of Jammu on Tuesday, BJP candidate Jugal Kishore accused the National Conference and the People’s Democratic Party of initiating a gun culture in Kashmir, as per Shah.
Amit Shah said, “I’m here to tell all the voters of Kashmir that we are not in a hurry. When we receive your love, the lotus will also bloom in the valley. We have no worries.”
Out of the five Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP has announced candidates only for the Udhampur and Jammu Lok Sabha seats, where voting is scheduled to take place in the first and second phases.
There are speculations that the saffron party might not field its candidates in the valley and could support candidates from non-NC, non-PDP, and non-Congress parties there.
“I’ve come to appeal to the voters of Kashmir, especially the youth, to vote for anyone but the three dynastic parties – NC, PDP, and Congress. Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, and Sonia Gandhi work for their daughters and sons, not for the people,” Shah emphasized.
