The Delhi liquor policy scandal: Sanjay Singh released from jail, met with Sunita Kejriwal, and touched her feet.
New Delhi: A day after being granted bail by the Supreme Court in the Delhi Excise Duty policy case, Aam Aadmi Party leader and Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh was released from jail on Wednesday.
Singh had been held in a high-security prison in Delhi since October 13, 2023.
You gathered outside the large number of supporters and chanted slogans like “Dekho dekho kaun aaya, sher aaya, sher aaya” (Look who’s here, the lion has come) and “Sanjay Singh zindabad” (Long live Sanjay Singh). Amidst the chanting, a garland was placed on the state senator during the activists’ slogan shouting.
Heavy security arrangements were in place outside the jail premises in anticipation of their release. Singh climbed onto his vehicle, and there was a tumultuous welcome from supporters as they greeted him.

After being released from Tihar Jail, Sanjay Singh went to the residence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and touched the feet of his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, seeking blessings.
He said, “Now, you workers will fight with hope in your hearts against this tyranny… Sanjay Singh is the lion of the Aam Aadmi Party and he will now roar against Narendra Modi’s tyranny.”
Delhi Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj and MLA Durgesh Pathak were also present outside the jail.
Before this, Singh was admitted to the ILBS Hospital in Vasant Kunj. After being discharged from the hospital around 1:30 PM, he was taken back to Tihar Jail to complete formalities for his bail.
On Tuesday, Singh went to ILBS for a routine check-up but was admitted instead. He was informed about his bail when he was in the hospital.
Anita Singh has said that they will not celebrate his release because Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and other AAP leaders including former minister Satyendra Jain are still in jail.
