On Sunday, a team from the Jharkhand CID began investigating a heinous case of gang rape involving a Spanish woman in Dumka district. However, three individuals have already been arrested in connection with this incident.

Under the leadership of Assistant Director Santosh Kumar, the CID team visited the Kurmarahat village in the Hansdiha police station area on Sunday morning and conducted an inspection of the crime scene in the key area.

The incident occurred when a Spanish woman and her husband were on a motorcycle tour in India and stayed at a temporary camp in the area on Friday night. The CID team also inspected the jungle area where the assault took place.

The team also spoke with those police officers and personnel who were the first to meet the Spanish woman and her husband after the incident, and who took them to the hospital.

Meanwhile, a separate team from Ranchi’s Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) also arrived in Kurmahat on Sunday and collected evidence from the crime scene.

The team led by Dr. Robin Minj, Assistant Director (Forensic) of Jharkhand Police, including Dr. Jahangir Imam and Dr. Abhishek Sahu, gathered a wristwatch, broken pieces of a helmet, and clothing from the crime scene.

Another forensic team, led by Neetish Badaik from the nearby Jamtara district, also arrived to inspect the crime scene.

Under the leadership of DSP Player Kisku, a special branch team of the state police also reached the village and gathered information from police officers.

During this time, an court in Dumka on Sunday remanded three individuals – Rajan Marandi, Pradeep Kisku, and Sukhlal Hembrom – to judicial custody. They were presented in the court of Judicial Magistrate Sarthak Sharma. The police filed a case of collective sexual assault against them.

The three individuals, whose ages range between 20-30 years, were arrested based on information obtained from a suspended female police officer.

On Saturday, they underwent a medical examination at Fuloh Jhano Medical College, after which they were temporarily placed in the highly secure facility at Hansdiha police station.

On Sunday afternoon, they underwent another medical fitness test, after which they were sent to jail.

Meanwhile, based on a three-page complaint by a suspended female blogger, the police initiated primary investigations against seven individuals and conducted raids for jewelry forgery at various locations in the district.

Efforts to contact Dumka’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Pintu Singh Kherwar and Jarmundi’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (SDPO) Santosh Kumar were repeatedly unsuccessful as the police did not engage in media discussions.
